BestBooks-acwLets see....I've read quite a lot recently. Some are books I
know a few of you have already read, like
Book Thief and
I am the Messenger by Markus Zusak. I thought both of thesewere worth reading but Book Thief was more unusual and
had a greater impact on me.
I read two light and humorous books that were a lot of
fun!
Dairy Queen by Catherine Murdock has to be one of my
favorites! I'm pretty sure even you sophisticated 8th graders
would like it. A funny, hardworking girl from a family of star football players is given the job of coaching the cutest guy imaginable from the rival team. The book has very good character development, humor, and enough underlying substance to keep it aloft. Plus, it has
a nice romantic component.
The other light and humorous one comes from David Lubar who is a master of the humorous teen book. I read his new
book
Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie and found it to be happy and fun. Kind of a nice change from some of the heavier stuff. The next one I recommend is
Down the Rabbit Hole: An Echo Falls Mystery by Peter Abrahams. Are any of you mystery fans?
If so you should check this out and a sequel just came out called
Behind the Curtain: An Echo Falls Mystery. It has afemale protagonist who loves Sherlock Holmes. If any of you are still into The
Faerie Wars,
Purple Emperor books by Herbie Brennan, I have a galley of the next book which is
due out this fall.
That's enough from me for now. I know you are just trying to finish up with school. Hopefully you'll have time to
participate in the summer. To post a message, just click on the
